Qiujing Bridge is located at the eastern end of Zhaqian Street in Hangming Community, Jiefang Subdistrict, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City. Originally named Yingchun Bridge, its construction date is unknown. According to the 1694 edition of the Xiushui County Annals during the Kangxi reign, it was rebuilt in the early years of the Chongzhen era in the Ming Dynasty. The current bridge bears inscriptions on its nameplate reading “11th Year of the Jiaqing Reign” and “Reconstructed by Local Residents,” indicating that the existing structure was renovated in 1806 during the 11th year of the Jiaqing reign in the Qing Dynasty. It is a single-arch stone bridge with railings, stretching from east to west across Qiujing River. The bridge has an overall length of 58.65 meters, a deck width of 4.85 meters, an arch span of 15.6 meters, and a height of 6 meters. The arch ring stones are laid in sections, and the cutwaters are built with staggered vertical joints. Two lion-shaped column capitals and five square column capitals remain on the bridge’s railing. There are 39 stone steps on the eastern slope and 35 on the western side. Both the north and south sides of the bridge bear the inscription “Qiujing Bridge.” The central part of the coping stone is engraved with a swirl pattern, while the bridge couplets are heavily weathered and barely legible. With its long history, large scale, and elegant design, Qiujing Bridge is one of the few surviving stone arch bridges in the urban area, possessing significant historical and artistic value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing in 1981.
