Donghuacheng Temple Pagoda
Donghuacheng Temple Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
Era: Song Dynasty
Address: Located on Ziwu Mountain, Zhongying Village, Fengqiao Town, Zhuji City, Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province.
The pagoda was built in the seventh year of the Yuanyou era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1092), known as Donghuacheng Temple Pagoda. Also, because it was built during the Yuanyou era, it is also called the Yuanyou Pagoda. Originally constructed with a brick-and-wood structure, the pagoda had a square floor plan with sides about 2 meters wide, originally seven stories high, but now only four stories remain. The base of the pagoda is built with strip stones. Some sides of the bricks are imprinted with pagoda-shaped patterns or inscriptions reading “Erected in the seventh year of Yuanyou, Ren Shen.”
It was listed as a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit on December 12, 1989, and included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units in May 2013.
