Mingquan Cherry Valley Scenic Area

The Mingquan Fruit Industry Sightseeing Ecological Park in Zhaojia Town is covered with fruit-laden “Black Pearl” cherry trees introduced from the United States. The area is bustling with visitors, and the expected yield during peak production season is about 900 kilograms per mu—roughly double that of ordinary cherries—marking a successful introduction of the variety.

It is reported that the “Black Pearl” cherries trialed by Mingquan Fruit Industry were the result of a joint research project by Zhejiang University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Compared to traditional local cherries, they feature larger fruit size, vibrant color, higher sugar content, and a later harvest season, making them another excellent variety suitable for development in Zhuji City.

Moreover, compared to ordinary cherries which can typically be stored for only one day, “Black Pearl” cherries have a relatively longer shelf life and can be kept at home for about a week.
