The Ancient Architectural Complex of Majian

The Ancient Architectural Complex of Majian is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

The Ancient Architectural Complex of Majian is located in Majian Town, Zhuji City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

The complex in Majian Town (including the Dai Clan Ancestral Hall, Shude Hall, and Jingyi Hall) was built during the Qing Dynasty. It comprises ancestral halls and residential buildings, notable for its large scale, well-preserved structure, rational layout, and representativeness in local architecture.

The Dai Clan Ancestral Hall includes the Majian History and Culture Exhibition Hall, the Jin-Xiao Detachment Exhibition Hall, the Yi Shrine, the Fenghuan Shrine, and the Dai Clan Historical Figures Hall (originally the Jie Xiao Shrine).

It holds significant historical, cultural, and educational value. With its large scale and refined craftsmanship, it provides valuable insight into Qing Dynasty ancestral hall architecture and the mutual aid systems within the social structures of the time.

Each cluster of buildings within the Majian Ancient Architectural Complex features unique architectural forms, enclosed by high walls to form independent architectural complexes. The layout is well-defined, offering both effective defensive functions and reflecting the architectural patterns of clan settlements.

On January 13, 2017, it was designated as part of the seventh batch of Cultural Relic Protection Units of Zhejiang Province by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.
