Brick carving of the Hundred Horses
The Brick Carving of the Hundred Horses, located on the lintel of the ceremonial gate at the rear eaves of the main hall in Qianzhuwu (Thousand Pillar Mansion), Zhongsuban Village, Sixi Township, was carved during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty.
The entire piece is composed of 21 bluestone relief bricks, measuring 745 centimeters in length and 30 centimeters in width, depicting 53 horses, hence commonly known as the “Hundred Horses.” The brick carvings feature smooth lines and lifelike images, with no two horses in the same pose, along with relief figures, landscapes, birds, and beasts as embellishments. Each section can stand alone as a distinct artwork, yet together they form a cohesive whole. It is a county-level cultural relics protection unit.
