Xinchang Qianzhang Yougu

Qianzhang Yougu is located to the east of the Nineteen Peaks, stretching five li in length as a valley formed where two Danxia landform groups—the Nineteen Peaks and Taitou Mountain—stand opposite each other. It gained nationwide fame as the filming location for CCTV dramas such as "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," "The Legend of the Condor Heroes," and "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils."

Cross the small wooden bridge over the Hanfei River to be welcomed by a vast expanse of scenic tea fields. The Twin Elephants Peaks stand on both sides as if greeting visitors. Lush bamboo forests extend deep into the valley, flanked by steep cliffs. Inside the valley, grotesque rocks, splashing springs, and secluded bamboo paths create a tranquil atmosphere. Walk across footbridges, pass through caves, climb plank walks, and trek rocky trails to discover numerous attractions including “Father of Life,” “Mother of Life,” Listening to the Zither in the Stone Chamber, Iron Wall, Dragon Bed, Flying Dragon in the Sky, Camel Offering Treasure, Golden Monkey Offering Peaches, Three Elephants Bathing, Mandarin Duck Pool, and Crouching Dragon Cave.

To facilitate tourist access, a 600-meter tunnel called the Qianzhang Yougu Tunnel has been built at the valley’s end, connecting to the Xinjing Highway. This completes a tourist loop from the Nineteen Peaks to Qianzhang Yougu, making it an ideal destination for adventure, sightseeing, scientific exploration, and leisure activities.

Key Attractions:

Small Wooden Bridge: At the entrance of Qianzhang Yougu, there are several farmsteads surrounded by uniquely shaped peaks. The Hanfei River flows out from between the mountains and meanders down through the village. A small wooden bridge spans the river, with flat tea and mulberry fields lying in front of the hamlet, which nestles within a bamboo forest at the foot of the peaks. The area features crisscrossing paths, bamboo fences, thatched cottages, and peach and willow trees, creating a uniquely elegant and picturesque Jiangnan-style mountain village.

The gently swaying small wooden bridge and the rustic mountain dwellings caught the eye of CCTV directors, making this spot one of the main filming locations for TV series such as "Deep Motherly Love," "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," and "The Legend of the Condor Heroes." As a result, the wild mountain scenery here has become widely renowned.

Secluded Winding Path: Entering the Qianzhang Yougu valley along the stream, you’ll walk through lush bamboo forests along a winding path. On both sides are the unique rock formations known as “Mother of Life” and “Root of Life,” offering a serene, quiet, and cool atmosphere.

On the right hillside stands a striking stone pillar resembling a heavenly candle—this is the “Root of Life.” Nearby is a small hill known as “Mother of Life,” locally called “Big Belly Rock.” Legend says this is a “goddess” who hoped her child would become a general, hence the “General’s Hat” already prepared atop the left peak.

Listening to the Zither in the Stone Chamber: On the eastern side of Qianzhang Yougu, beneath a cliff, there is a cave. Outside the cave lies a stone that resembles an ancient zither. With the murmuring stream, rustling bamboo, and whispers like a dragon’s chant, it feels as if you can hear the sound of a zither. Legend has it that this was where Wang Yao, a prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty, once studied.
