Hiking the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail – Revisiting the Hero’s Path
Commemorating the “2016 Beidou on the Road” Large-Scale Outdoor Event, Hangzhou Station
When it comes to the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail, its stunning landscapes are familiar to nearly everyone in China — from the sea of clouds above the majestic Dayangang peaks, to the peculiar “Upside-Down Boots” waterfall, to the breathtaking Danxia formations along the Xia Hanfei River, and the exciting rock rappelling on the Nineteen Peaks. All of these leave visitors in awe. Moreover, the area is renowned as the scenic backdrop for many famous Chinese TV series such as "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," "The Legend of the Condor Heroes," and "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils." The martial heroes from these shows, beloved by people born in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, seemed to grow along this very trail, and their heroic tales continue to fascinate.
From October 29 to 30, 2016, during the early days of autumn when the air was just starting to turn cool, the “2016 Beidou on the Road — Fourth Stop, Large-Scale Outdoor Experience Activity: Hiking and Camping on the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail,” sponsored by Beidou Satellite Watches and fully organized by Green Field Network, was successfully launched. Over a hundred team members explored the majestic mountain landscapes along the Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail and experienced the joy of hiking, camping, and adventure while revisiting the hero’s path.
This “Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail Hiking and Camping” event covered an approximate total hiking distance of 23 kilometers over two days.

On October 29, team members arrived early at the bus gathering point and set off together. Led by several enthusiastic participants, they played games, showcased talents, laughed and chatted along the way, quickly bonding as a group.

After passing through several tea plantations, the bus finally arrived at the starting point of the hike — Renhuling. After a brief rest, the hikers geared up, put on their Beidou satellite watches, and with the guidance of professional leaders, set off from the assembly point to begin the first day’s journey.

The itinerary was designed to blend natural beauty with physical challenges. Starting from Renhuling and ascending to Dayangang to view the sea of clouds, then proceeding to “Dàotuōxuē” to see the curious boot-shaped waterfall, descending to the Xia Hanfei River to admire green mountains, clear waters, strange rocks and cliffs, and finally climbing to the Nineteen Peaks before reaching Yazhuang. This is a classic hiking route that combines highland sea of clouds, peculiar waterfalls, lush landscapes, and dramatic rock formations.

It’s worth mentioning that the hiking activity was already quite challenging, and the rain further increased the difficulty. However, this did not dampen the participants’ enthusiasm for outdoor hiking. They demonstrated the adventurous spirit of “never lost,” steadily forging ahead with mutual support.

After completing around 15 kilometers of hiking challenges, the team finally arrived at their night campsite — Wo Zhou Lake. Following a hearty farmhouse-style dinner, the organizers showed a promotional video about the Beidou watch, and hosted interactive games and a lucky draw. Fortune smiled upon a courageous and adventurous mom, who won the grand prize — a Beidou satellite watch.

Fortunately, the weather cooperated on the second day, and the skies were clear. Team members climbed from Qiaowang Power Station toward Little Huangshan, tackling a nearly vertical slope where ropes were needed in some sections and hands-and-feet climbing was required. After strenuous effort, a beautiful reservoir surrounded by mountains appeared before them around noon.
After lunch, the team passed by Aoshan and Coffin Rock before returning to Qiaowang Power Station. Completing a roughly 7.5-kilometer loop hike, they successfully wrapped up all activities for the day.

The “Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail Hiking and Camping” event spanned two days. With its rich itinerary, it allowed participants to not only enjoy the thrill of outdoor activities, but also take pleasure in the late-autumn scenery. Despite the obstacles encountered, the participants displayed resilience and the spirit of “never lost,” giving the event even greater meaning.

So far, the "2016 Beidou On the Road Large-Scale Outdoor Experience Event" has come to a perfect close with the end of its fourth stop, the "Hundred-Mile Danxia Hiking & Camping in Xinchang, Hangzhou." The four stops — Beijing, Shenyang, Qingdao, and Hangzhou — saw nearly 600 outdoor enthusiasts sign up enthusiastically, with over 500 outdoor lovers from all over the country taking part. Brought together by these four outdoor events, their shared passion for outdoor adventure, and their admiration for the two extreme sports idols Zhang Xinyu and Liang Hong, they gathered to journey "on the road" together, showcasing Beidou’s never-lost spirit of exploration.
