Hiking the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail: Reliving the Hero’s Path

Speaking of the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail, its beautiful scenery is familiar to most Chinese people — the sea of clouds atop the Dayangang peaks, the uniquely shaped “Upside-Down Boots” waterfall, the Danxia wonders along the Xia Hanfei River, and the thrill of canyoneering down the Nineteen Peaks, all of which have earned widespread acclaim. Furthermore, this area gained fame as the outdoor filming location for well-known CCTV TV series such as “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” and “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils.” For many people born in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, their memories of martial arts heroes are intertwined with the growth of these characters along the Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail, and their legendary tales remain widely celebrated.
From October 29 to 30, 2016, taking advantage of the early onset of cool autumn weather, the “2016 Beidou on the Road – Large-Scale Outdoor Experience Event, Fourth Stop: Hiking and Camping on the Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail,” fully sponsored by Beidou Satellite Watches and comprehensively organized by Green Field Network, was successfully launched. Over a hundred team members enjoyed the majestic mountain landscapes of the Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail, experienced the joy of hiking, camping, and adventure, and relived the path of heroes.
The total hiking distance for the “Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail Hiking and Camping” event was approximately 23 kilometers, spanning two days.

On October 29, the team members arrived early at the bus assembly point and set off after getting ready. Encouraged by a few particularly active participants, everyone played games and showed off their talents, filling the journey with laughter and quickly bonding as a group.

After passing through several tea plantations, the bus finally arrived at the hiking starting point of the event — Renhuling. After a brief rest, the team geared up for the hike, put on their Beidou satellite watches, and under the guidance of professional leaders, set off from the assembly point to begin the first day’s journey.

The entire itinerary was a blend of natural beauty and physical challenges. From Renhuling ascending to Dayangang to witness the sea of clouds, walking past the “Upside-Down Boots” to see the unique waterfall, descending along the Xia Hanfei River to admire the green mountains, clear waters, and peculiar rocks, then climbing the Nineteen Peaks to reach Yazhuang. This is a classic hiking route that combines high-mountain sea of clouds, unique waterfalls, lush greenery, and unusual rock formations.

It’s worth mentioning that this hiking event was already quite challenging, and the rain further increased the difficulty. However, none of this dampened the participants’ enthusiasm for outdoor hiking. They demonstrated an indomitable “never lost” spirit of exploration and moved forward firmly, supporting one another.

After completing a challenging hike of about 15 kilometers, the team members finally arrived at the night’s campsite — Wo Zhou Lake. Following a hearty farmhouse-style dinner, the organizers screened a promotional video about the Beidou watches, and led interactive games and a lucky draw. Fortune smiled upon a brave and adventurous mom, who won the grand prize — a Beidou satellite watch.

Fortunately, the weather cooperated on the second day, offering clear skies. The team members climbed up to Little Huangshan from Qiaowang Power Station, tackling a nearly vertical slope of nearly 100 meters, where some sections required the use of ropes and hands-and-feet crawling. After a strenuous effort, a picturesque reservoir surrounded by mountains appeared before them around noon.
After lunch, the team passed through Aoshan and Coffin Rock on their way back to Qiaowang Power Station. Completing a roughly 7.5-kilometer loop hike, they successfully wrapped up all activities of the event.

The “Hangzhou-Binxian Hundred-Mile Danxia Trail Hiking and Camping” event lasted two days. The richly designed itinerary allowed participants to not only enjoy the thrills of outdoor activities, but also experience the pleasure brought by the late-autumn scenery. Despite the challenges, the team members displayed resilience and the “never lost” spirit, adding even greater meaning to the event.

So far, the "2016 Beidou on the Road Large-Scale Outdoor Experience Event" has come to a perfect close with the end of its fourth stop, the "Hundred-Mile Danxia Hiking and Camping in Xinchang, Hangzhou." The four stops — Beijing, Shenyang, Qingdao, and Hangzhou — saw nearly 600 outdoor enthusiasts signing up enthusiastically, with over 500 outdoor lovers from all over the country taking part. Brought together by the four outdoor events, their shared passion for outdoor adventure, and their admiration for the two iconic extreme outdoor adventurers Zhang Xinyu and Liang Hong, they gathered to journey "on the road" together, showcasing Beidou's never-lost spirit of exploration.
