Ancient Post Road in Shaoxing

From the old east gate of Xinchang County to the border of Tiantai County, there remains a relatively intact ancient post road. The cobblestones laid along the way are smooth and flat. Currently, the long street running through Banzhu, the stone steps on Huishuling, and the mountain path from Tianmu Temple to Lengshuikeng still retain the charm of the ancient post road. The small stations set up along the post road, such as Xiaoshibu Station, Lengshui Station, and Guanling Station, also show traces of their original appearance. The post road crosses the Taoyuan area, traverses Mount Tianmu, and reaches Guanlingtou, spanning a total length of 35 kilometers. This road was originally developed by the Southern Dynasties poet Xie Lingyun, hence it is also known as the "Xie Gong Road." Today, Highway 104 runs roughly parallel to this ancient post road.
