Xinchang Museum
Xinchang Museum officially opened on December 25, 2014. It is located at No. 130 Gushan West Road, Qixing Subdistrict, with a total construction area of 3,400 m², including an exhibition area of 1,000 m². The museum is composed of a historical and cultural exhibition hall, a temporary exhibition hall, an artifact storage room, a conference room, a reading room, a multimedia classroom, offices, and other auxiliary facilities. It is the only comprehensive museum in Xinchang that integrates collection and research, display and dissemination, as well as education and publicity. The museum currently houses 2,268 registered cultural relics in its collection, spanning various categories such as ceramics, metals, jade, calligraphy and paintings, and miscellaneous objects. Among them, there are 2 first-grade relics, 25 second-grade relics, and 128 third-grade relics. In addition, the museum preserves 6,759 ancient books, along with a number of other items such as stone steles and wooden antique furniture.
Currently, aside from the historical exhibition "Dreaming of Tiantai — Xinchang Historical and Cultural Exhibition," the temporary exhibition hall has successfully hosted a variety of exhibitions, including the "Cicada Special Exhibition," "Yu Guo’er Calligraphy and Painting Works Exhibition," "Elegant Brush Strokes — Qing and Republican Dynasty Books from the Museum Collection," "Offerings of Life — Xinchang County Folk Collection Exhibition," "Ink Poetry of Spring — Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition," "The 9th Xinchang Dafo Longjing Tea Culture Exhibition and Chinese Tea Culture Exhibition," "Dragons of Zhejiang — Dinosaur Fossil Exhibition from Zhejiang Excavations," "Calligraphy Exhibition by Ten Renowned Chinese and Korean Artists," "Yue Opera’s Cultural Essence — Yue Opera Cultural Relics Exhibition," "The 10th Shaoxing-wide Calligraphy and Seal Carving Works Exhibition," and "Buddha Overlooking Tiantai — 1500th Anniversary Special Exhibition of the Xinchang Grand Buddha." These exhibitions have delivered high-level cultural and artistic feasts to audiences through their ingenious content design and captivating presentation formats, generating strong social resonance and receiving high praise from leaders at all levels and various sectors of society. Xinchang Museum consistently prioritizes the growing cultural needs of the public, striving to uncover history, connect with the community, and preserve culture through its exhibitions.
