The China Militia Weapons and Equipment Exhibition Hall is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Destination Introduction

– The China Militia Weapons and Equipment Exhibition Hall, with its name personally inscribed by the Chairman, is located at the source of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Tongzhou District, Beijing. Construction began in 1991, covering an area of over 100,000 square meters with a building area of more than 12,000 square meters. It was completed and officially opened to the public in October 1998, and in the same year was named the "Beijing National Defense Education Base" by the Beijing Municipal People's Government. The hall consists of 14 parts, including the Weapons Expo Center, the People’s War History Museum, the Mountain Field Artillery Array, the Simulation Shooting Range, the National Defense Education Base, the Orthopedic Cryotherapy Specialty Hospital, and environmental art installations.

The museum houses a collection of over 10,000 cultural relics, including more than 5,000 weapons such as swords and blades from 23 countries. There are pen pistols just over ten centimeters long, ornately engraved and gold-plated pistols; historic firearms from around the world, rare and surviving from World War I and II. It also features the largest caliber Japanese 300mm howitzer in Asia, weighing nearly a hundred tons, as well as samurai swords from over 500 years ago. The vast number of exhibits and wide variety of items make it a spectacular display of global weaponry.

The environment within the museum is tranquil and elegant, cool and pleasant. The main building, with its Great Wall crenellation roof, the mountain artillery array built with field fortifications, various simulated weapon systems, multiple live-fire shooting ranges, and the shimmering fish ponds alongside lush green lawns all blend seamlessly—like a radiant pearl by the meandering Grand Canal. It is the best destination for weapon enthusiasts to study, research, and appreciate various arms, as well as an ideal venue for national defense education.
