Dragon Penetrating Gorge is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Tiantai Mountain’s Dragon Penetrating Gorge is located in Baihe Town in the northwestern part of Tiantai County. With eight major waterfalls, it is known as the “Eight Waterfalls of the Heavenly Dragon.”

The Dragon Penetrating Gorge Scenic Area combines landscapes of mountains, valleys, cascading waterfalls, caves, springs, famous trees, flowers, grasses, and birds and beasts. Its main features include steep peaks, sheer cliffs, unique caves, and dreamlike mists. There are ten major attractions: A Panorama of Tiantai History, Viewing Waterfalls by Graceful Stream, Five Cascading Streams, Li Bai Facing the Wind, Dragon Playing with Phoenix, Dragon Penetrating the Cliff, Knocking on the Stone Gate, Bathing in the Azure Lake, Birds Singing in the Valley, and Exploring the Three Gorges.

Among them, the A Panorama of Tiantai History area includes the entrance gate, the visitor center, the Dragon River Flying Crossing Corridor, and the Tiantai Cultural Corridor. As soon as visitors step into the cultural corridor, they feel as if they have entered a thousand years of Tiantai history.

The Viewing Waterfalls by Graceful Stream area features a bridge, a lake, a pavilion, and a waterfall in perfect harmony with nature, as if created by heaven itself. The bridge is rugged and rustic, full of wild charm; the Graceful Lake has crystal-clear water, with schools of spotted bass swimming like sprites in the lake.

The Sima Waterfall is especially majestic. The stream flows through the valley and suddenly encounters a cliff, plunging into the Drunken Pool. After swirling and surging, it bursts out from a crevice ahead and cascades down over 80 meters of steep cliffs with a thunderous roar, sending out glistening droplets that sparkle brilliantly.

Additionally, the Azure Lake has flawless emerald-green water, surrounded by golden sandy beaches that look like they are covered in dragon scales, pure and beautiful.

Transportation

It is only 8 kilometers from the exit of the Shangsan Expressway, 18 kilometers from Tiantai County, 107 kilometers from Taizhou City, and 142 kilometers from Ningbo, making it easily accessible.
