Tanhua Pavilion

Tanhua Pavilion in front of Fangguang Temple was initially built by Jia Sidao, a prime minister from Tiantai during the reign of Emperor Lizong of the Southern Song Dynasty. Legend has it that after the pavilion was completed, when the monks served tea, a fleeting glimpse of an instant blooming epiphyllum (tanhua) appeared in the teacups, hence the name "Tanhua Pavilion." It was destroyed by fire in 1972 and rebuilt in 1980. Visitors can rest, enjoy tea, and admire the waterfall here. From Tanhua Pavilion, visitors can see the waterfall base teeming with people like ants.
