Yujing Temple

Yujing Temple, located to the right of Yujing Cave. Taoist texts refer to it as the "Sixth Grotto-Heaven under Heaven, the Jade-Ping Heaven of Shangqing." In the eighth year of the Zhenghe era during the Song Dynasty (1118), an imperial decree was issued to name and construct the temple.

In the first year of the Ji ci era (1237), the imperial court sent envoys to present dragon plaques, and Master Chongjing Gao Weiji oversaw the construction of the temple buildings. The emperor bestowed agarwood, Douzhen (a ritual object), bells and chimes, as well as an inscribed plaque for the temple. Nearby lies the Golden Coin Pool, which according to legend, got its name when the Jin Dynasty monk Tanlan rested here to recite scriptures, and a deity offered him gold coins, which he threw into the pool.
