Tongzhou Canal Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Tongzhou Canal Park has a planned total length of 4,600 meters. It is a comprehensive venue integrating leisure, entertainment, education, sports and fitness, as well as water-based sightseeing. It is also currently the largest urban park in eastern Beijing. Historical records indicate that Tongzhou has long been a key transportation hub in eastern Beijing, serving as an important site for canal transport and storage. The canal’s water transport was vital to the nation’s lifeline, and every dynasty regarded Tongzhou as a strategic stronghold. Hence, Tongzhou earned the reputation of being “the upper stream at the heart of the imperial capital, and a formidable stronghold at the throat of the six directions.”

ocated in the urban section of the North Canal in Tongzhou New Town, Tongzhou District. The first phase stretches from the southern end of the Yuan Shui Island at the northern section of the canal in the north, to the Sixth Ring Road in the south, from Binhe West Road in the west to the North Canal flood control embankment in the east. The planned total length is 4,600 meters, with a width of 600–800 meters, covering a total area of 3.68 million square meters, including 920,000 square meters of water surface, achieving a green coverage rate of 95%. From November 1, 2004, to May 2007, the first phase was completed, with landscape renovation covering over 1 million square meters. Tongzhou Canal Park is a large-scale green ecological park formed by expanding, renovating, and integrating the former Canal Culture Square, Canal Olympic Sports Park, and Ecological Park. It is a comprehensive venue integrating leisure, entertainment, education, sports and fitness, as well as water-based sightseeing. It is also currently the largest urban park in eastern Beijing.

By bus: Get off at Dongguan Bridge Station via bus routes 322, 342, 728, branch 4 of 938, or branch 9 of 938. Take Metro Line 1 to Sihui Station and transfer to bus 322 to Dongguan Bridge Station; take Metro Line 1 to Guomao Station and ride branch 9 of 938 to Dongguan Bridge Station; take Metro Line 2 to Beijing Station and board branch 4 of 938 to Dongguan Bridge Station. By taxi or private car: Drive eastward from Dabeiyao Guomao, get on the Jing-Tong Expressway, travel 13.4 km, take the exit for Baliqiao Toll Station in the direction of Tongzhou, continue eastward, drive 2.4 km along Xinhuajie Street, then head toward Dongguan Bridge for 1.2 km, make a U-turn, and drive 1 km to reach the destination. Note: Drivers are advised to park their vehicles in the Olympic Park south of Dongguan Bridge.
