The Nanping Tourist Scenic Area is located at the southwestern edge of Tiantai County. It is a mountainous scenic area characterized by unique natural landscapes, rich cultural charm, and strong tourism and leisure appeal. In spring, the terraced fields are lush and verdant, adorned with blooming flowers; in summer, divine pools and dragon waterfalls offer cool retreats along serene streams; in autumn, falling leaves create a scene straight out of a painting; in winter, everything is blanketed in silvery white, offering an exceptionally enchanting sight.

The Nanping Tourist Scenic Area is 24 kilometers from the county seat (after the opening of the new Nanping Highway in 2018, the distance has been reduced to just 7.5 kilometers). Covering an area of 5.6 square kilometers, it is a mountainous scenic area known for its unique natural landscapes, rich cultural charm, and strong tourism and leisure appeal. Major attractions include the autumn colors of Nanshan, lotus terraces, cascading Dragon Pool Waterfalls, ancient paths lined with red maples, pastoral scenery, rural folk customs—each scene is picturesque and extraordinary, brimming with wonder. The scenic area features spiritually uplifting landscapes such as Wanghaijian (Sea-View Peak), Cuicun Ancient Path, Wuzhang Garden, the “Little Potala Palace of the South,” covered bridges, thousand-acre red maple forests, ancient dwellings, Cuiping Ancient Temple, Ji Gong Hall, bayberry orchards, pear orchards, and yew bases... Countless rare and unique landscapes come together to form the distinctive scenery of Nanping. This unique mountainous scenic area offers high aesthetic, recreational, historical, cultural, and scientific value, and enjoys great fame and excellent reputation.

The Nanping Tourist Scenic Area is committed to creating a “fully scenic region, village landscapes, and a sanctuary for the soul,” striving to embody the essence of agriculture, the warmth of home, and the joy of leisure. Upholding the management philosophy of “using festivals as a medium, culture to boost tourism, and tourism to promote agriculture,” it has held the “Red Maple Festival” for six consecutive years. The festival has received extensive media coverage from publications such as China Tourism News, CCTV, and Zhejiang Daily. The visibility and reputation of the Nanping Tourist Scenic Area continue to grow. According to incomplete statistics, the scenic area receives over 350,000 visitors annually.
