Like a beautiful fairy tale, resembling a charming "utopia," on the source and origin of the North Canal—the initial section of the world-famous Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal—a magnificent complex of classical-style architecture has risen on a long-dormant 120-hectare sandy beach. This is the Beijing Grand Canal Club, a grand gift presented by a Ph.D. and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference to celebrate the return of Hong Kong to the motherland. Like a shining pearl, it is embedded in the eastern part of Beijing. Its purpose is to embody the essence of thousands of years of Chinese culture, showcase the great wisdom and creativity of the Chinese nation, and spread the long-standing historical civilization of China. The club offers golf activities, business meetings, and leisure vacations. Here, you can experience the profound roots of ancient Chinese culture while enjoying the pleasures of modern facilities.

The international-standard 18-hole golf course by the Grand Canal is designed to highlight the natural scenery of the canal, emphasizing its simplicity, harmony, and vibrant grandeur. The view stretches far and wide, with endless lush greenery and refreshing river breezes. The 18 holes vary in difficulty, suitable for golfers of all levels. The fairways have minimal elevation changes and gentle slopes. Natural trees, ponds, and handcrafted bridges are cleverly integrated into the course, adding challenge without being overly difficult, making the course both challenging and enticing. Miniature landscapes built to resemble famous sights—such as the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon at West Lake, Zhaozhou Bridge, Broken Bridge, and Guanlan Pavilion—are a perfect blend of Chinese cultural heritage and a modern golf course, reflecting the designer’s unique ingenuity and serving as a major feature of the course. The club also features a nine-hole floodlit course, the first of its kind in the Beijing area. By day, the green grass and verdant pines create a serene scene; by night, the cool breeze and bright lights allow golfers to fully enjoy their game.

Passing through a magnificent archway, stately ornamental columns, imposing stone lions, and pristine Golden Water Bridges, you arrive at the club’s clubhouse, designed in the grand style of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven. At the center of the three-tiered white marble railing platform stands the towering Hall of Return. With a diameter two-thirds that of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and a height of 31.8 meters, its base is 12 meters high. Above its three-tiered eaves covered in peacock-blue glazed tiles shines a giant golden roof over a person’s height, dazzling and bright. Inside the hall, the interior is resplendent, with intricately hand-painted ceilings, caisson ceilings, brackets, and beams in blue-green and gold hues, all guided by master artists. The large mural “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” is vividly lifelike, captivating visitors. Eight majestic pillars, wrapped in golden dragons against a red base, exude solemnity, richness, and luxury, perfectly recreating the grandeur and spirit of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests.

The steps in front of the main hall are continuous from bottom to top, with each side of every level featuring nine sections of white marble railings. The exquisitely carved white marble imperial path stones in the center consist of seven pieces, together forming the everlasting commemorative number 1997.

From the Hall of Return, you can gaze out to see the glazed tiles of the golf driving range blending with the pool water, creating a scene reminiscent of a heavenly paradise.

The Beijing Grand Canal Club boasts an international-standard 18-hole golf course, including a nine-hole floodlit course. In addition, the club features a golf driving range, putting green, branded golf shop, banquet hall, restaurants, and bar. Sports facilities include indoor and outdoor floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, table tennis rooms, billiard rooms, chess and card rooms, along with saunas, surf baths, dance halls, and game arcades.

Cruising the Grand Canal by dragon boat or painted pleasure boat is another highlight of the Beijing Grand Canal Club. The Grand Canal of China is the longest man-made canal in the world, symbolizing the civilization, wisdom, and historical legacy of the Chinese nation. As a new tourist attraction, it recreates the enchanting scenery of the Grand Canal, reflecting the ingenuity of the club’s creators.

Twelve exquisitely arranged courtyard houses are built along the canal, offering 96 luxurious guest rooms. These buildings consist of two-courtyard layouts, representing typical Beijing siheyuan (courtyard houses). Each courtyard house covers an area of over 600 square meters, with spacious yards, floral decorations, and varied painted designs. The interiors are decorated to five-star hotel standards, offering comfort, elegance, and warmth. Additionally, 32 apartments of varying sizes are built near the golf course.
