The Universal Studios Beijing theme park is located in the southeastern part of Beijing's urban area. It is the fifth Universal Studios in the world and the third in Asia.

Universal Beijing Resort includes the Universal Studios Beijing theme park, Universal CityWalk Beijing, the world’s first Universal-branded theme resort hotel, and the first resort hotel under the Nuo Hotels brand of BTG Hotels Group.

According to information from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Universal Studios Beijing theme park project is expected to receive approval from the State Council in the near future. The site is located in Liyuan, Tongzhou District, Beijing. Beijing began research and preliminary work on this project around 2013. The American Universal Studios project is a major theme park planned for introduction in Tongzhou. The project is jointly funded by Universal Pictures from the United States and BTG Hotels Group, with a total investment of up to tens of billions.

Universal Beijing Resort is a highly anticipated theme park destination, featuring newly curated attractions that bring together the most popular rides and experiences from Universal theme parks worldwide, while incorporating a wealth of Chinese elements and carefully crafted unique experiences. In addition to the world-renowned Universal Studios Beijing theme park, Phase I of the Universal Beijing Resort project includes Universal CityWalk Beijing—a comprehensive commercial complex integrating retail, dining, and entertainment—as well as the world’s first Universal-branded theme resort hotel and the first resort hotel under the Nuo Hotels brand of BTG Hotels Group.

Universal Beijing Resort is owned by Beijing International Resort Co., Ltd. This company is a joint venture equally owned by Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. and Universal Parks & Resorts, a business segment of Comcast NBCUniversal.

Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. was established with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Government and primarily supports the investment, development, operation, and management of Universal Beijing Resort. It is jointly owned by five state-owned enterprises in Beijing, including BTG Hotels Group, one of China’s largest tourism companies.
