Former Site of the Missionary Building and Baiyou Building at Fuyu Girls' School

The former site of the Missionary Building and Baiyou Building at Fuyu Girls' School is among the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage conservation units in Beijing. In 1866, American Christian missionary Rev. Elkanah Walker Goodnow founded the Anshi Theological Seminary. It was burned down during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. In 1904, the Missionary Building was constructed using Boxer Indemnity funds, and the school was renamed Fuyu Girls' School the following year. There are three small buildings in total, all of brick-and-wood two-story construction. The Baiyou Building, built in 1929, is a two-story east-west-oriented structure with a width of nine bays and a depth of three bays, designed in the grand official style.
