Xiashanyang Village

Xiashanyang Village is located to the northwest of Songyang County, about 10 kilometers from the county seat. The Zhang family is the largest clan in the village. In 2012, it was designated as a “Provincial-level Historical and Cultural Village,” and in 2013, it was included in the second batch of the “China Traditional Villages” list. The entire village follows a traditional astrological layout, embodying the Taoist philosophy of “harmony between man and nature.” The whole village is closely integrated with natural feng shui elements, making it the most well-preserved planned ancient village in Songyang to date. It holds high historical and cultural value for studying the development of architecture in Songyang. The most stunning structure in Xiashanyang Village is the Fengshui Pond. Serving as the village’s landmark and public activity center, the semi-circular pond lies horizontally in front of the village, symbolizing the feng shui cycle of “loss brings gain.”
