Hediao Shangyang Lake is located beneath Changtajian Peak, which stands at an altitude of 1,411 meters in Suhu Village. It is a high-altitude lake embraced by green mountains on all sides, covering an area of over 20 acres. The lake’s crystal-clear waters are as smooth as a mirror and never dry up throughout the year, earning it the reputation of “endless immortal water descending from the heavens.” According to the Republican-era *Qingyuan County Annals*: “Shangyang Lake once had a temple, named Shangyang Lake Temple. It is said that a monk attained enlightenment here. When building the temple, timber was fetched from neighboring counties, but when the time came, logs emerged floating from the lake. The carpenters announced that enough wood had arrived, and construction ceased.”
