I made yellow duck tangyuan with sweet potato filling during the Winter Solstice and didn’t expect them to become such a huge hit. Yellow duck-shaped tangyuan

Seeing everyone enjoy the handmade shaped tangyuan I made filled my heart with joy—something words alone can’t describe

To celebrate the important occasion of Lantern Festival, I made some unique-shaped tangyuan, all just to see those happy smiles again

Most importantly... people will even compliment you ((ha~ that’s really my goal))

■ Ingredients ■
(1) Glutinous rice flour
(2)Water
(3)food coloring
(4)Black cocoa powder
((Food coloring comes in four colors: red, yellow, blue, and green))

■ Sweet Potato Filling Ingredients ■
(1)Sweet Potato
(2)White sugar
((The filling can be varied according to personal preference, which will not be described here))

■ Red Bean Paste Ingredients ■
Purchase pre-made, pre-seasoned fillings at the food baking shop

Since the yellow duck-shaped glutinous rice balls were very well received, it’s only natural to bring them out again during the Lantern Festival to liven up the atmosphere.

Wrap the filling you want to eat—20g glutinous rice flour, 10g filling ((whatever you like!! Even cookies, vegetables… anything you enjoy eating is fine))

The whole plate of golden ya-ya has a main color that shines brilliantly; even if you boil it and eat it just like this, it still looks very auspicious.

The most labor-intensive part is the purely manual work — it can't be rushed, nor can it be done hastily, involving both the mouth and the eyes.

Don't underestimate these steps—they may seem easy, but I spent an hour just filling the filling for 30 tangyuan (sweet rice balls), and over an hour shaping them...

People who don’t believe it are welcome to join in making yuanxiao (sweet rice balls). If you find a method that makes them both beautiful and quick to make, please share it with me!!!

If you don’t want to cook too much at once after everything is ready or want to share with close friends and family

You can freeze them until they become completely solid (just kidding...) and then pack them into nice bags

(Actually, I couldn’t find a container for the duck-shaped rice balls, but I found this self-adhesive bag instead, wow~ it looks really nice when packaged…)

Here comes the highlight!!! For the Winter Solstice, there were cat-paw-shaped glutinous rice balls and yellow duckling glutinous rice balls to celebrate my birthday….

((Can I not have it?

The Lantern Festival is also a major holiday to celebrate with your beloved family. Yuzai made tangyuan (sweet dumplings) in various shapes to add a festive touch.

((Blurred out to protect my child’s likeness rights))

Hahaha~~~ Actually, it's because those two look more like monsters!!! These little devils…….

And what’s with the weather???? The big devil actually made me wear short sleeves… Do all kids these days dress like this???

To celebrate the Lantern Festival, I shaped some green-eyed blobs and blue furry monsters, though only half turned out well.
Because the green-eyed blob turned out super cute—even I was melted by its adorableness ((squeal~)), but this furry monster? Not even close…

Auntie went all out shaping themed tangyuan, and the little devils and their mom weren’t to be outdone, making eggplants, carrots, and oranges…

Just look at this plate… It actually looks pretty good!!! At least they had a blast playing.

In my heart, the green-eyed blob is just as adorable as the yellow duckling.

The blue furry monster that made Yuzai want to cry…

I asked the big devil to help Auntie Yuzai and me specially make some joy-inducing tangyuan for the Lantern Festival celebration.

((Why did I feel a twinge of reluctance the moment I bit into the green-eyed blob?? My green-eyed blob is going to be eaten~”~))

Unlike the yellow duckling, this one is filled with red bean paste!!! Red and green… delicious and pretty.
Thin skin, generous filling, great taste, and a chewy texture… thumbs up ((thumbs up))

Finally, here’s an extra serving of [Abundance Year After Year] tangyuan

This was something I tried to replicate on a whim after seeing someone else’s creation posted by my sister and shared with me.
But my skills are still miles behind theirs… For truly amazing masterpieces, please click the link directly: Mama Bao’s Kitchen

Other people’s look full of prosperity, wealth, and the blessing of “year after year with fish,” but mine just look like tadpoles!!!!

This one’s even crazier… someone even said it looks like Ponyo
