Silver Screen Rises to the West

Silver Screen Mountain, also known as Cloud Screen Mountain or Rock Battleground Mountain, has a main peak over 1,300 meters above sea level. Its towering cliffs, steep precipices, deep valleys, and swirling mists make it a rugged landscape, sheer on all sides yet surprisingly flat at the summit. Climbing to the top evokes the feeling of “reaching the summit and seeing all other mountains as small,” where you can watch the sunrise and listen to the rustling of pine trees. Looking around, the scenery of surrounding peaks unfolds before your eyes, and in the distance, you can see Jinzifeng Peak in the county, Muchang’an in Fu’an, Fenggang, and an aerial view of the entire Jushui area. Here, summer feels cool, surrounded by lush greenery, fragrant flowers, and birdsong, making it a place people never want to leave. As early as the Republican era, Mr. Ji Guanyuan, the first farmer entrepreneur in Qingyuan County, used the majestic and steep Silver Screen Peak as the trademark design for his tea. Leveraging the unique natural conditions of Silver Screen Mountain, he produced high-quality Silver Screen Tea from the region’s premium tea leaves for export trade. This helped bring tea from Jushui to international markets, gaining fame overseas. Today, visitors can spot what is called “fairy herb”—dendrobium and ganoderma—growing on the cliff faces. During the Qing Dynasty, Wang Heng visited this place and composed a poem: “The western cliffs stand uniquely steep, / Like a silver screen, fresh in verdant sweep. / When spring grass grows, the scene turns to art, / In autumn mist, it fades in soft part. / Stone gates shut tight, a riverside charm, / A land barrier guards moonlit water calm. / Seems as if a giant stretched out one hand, / To set this peak here for all to stand.”
