Qingyuan County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Qingyuan has a long history of revolutionary struggle. From 1933 to 1949, armed forces under the leadership of the Communist Party of China such as the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Northern Expeditionary Force Against Japan and the Red Army Advance Division were active in Qingyuan. The footprints of revolutionary predecessors covered the ancient paths and covered bridges of Qingyuan, where many famous battles and events occurred, and many revolutionary martyrs were laid to rest here. In 1978, the Qingyuan County Committee and the County Government built the Qingyuan County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery to honor these martyrs. The cemetery is located on Shilong Mountain in the northwest of the county town. It features key attractions such as the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, martyrs' tombs, the “Lingyun Pavilion” Revolutionary Relics Exhibition Room, and the “Danxin Pavilion,” covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. The main gate of the martyrs’ cemetery bears an inscription by Ye Fei, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, reading “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs.” The cemetery is the final resting place of 185 revolutionary martyrs, and the martyrs' memorial hall houses over 600 revolutionary relics and personal belongings. The cemetery places great emphasis on the management of its patriotic education base. It strengthens educational services related to revolutionary history and has collected and produced over 800 photos and images reflecting the revolutionary struggles in Qingyuan. The site is open during major holidays such as Army Day, National Day, Spring Festival, and Tomb-Sweeping Day. In collaboration with the County People's Armed Forces Department, it organizes visits to the Shilong Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery for primary and secondary school students and kindergarten children across the county. Each year, over 3,000 teachers and students receive education here, and more than 60,000 citizens visit. The cemetery has received widespread praise from all sectors of society and has become a sacred site for the descendants of the revolutionary base areas to honor the martyrs, as well as an inexhaustible source of vitality for Qingyuan’s efforts in supporting the military and caring for their families.
