Former Site of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Pujiang County Committee

The Former Site of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Pujiang County Committee is a cultural heritage site protected by Pujiang County, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Patriotic Education Base at Shanlongwangdian is located in Shanlongwangdian Natural Village, Wangdian Administrative Village, Yantou Town, Pujiang County. It lies to the east of Huangzhai and to the west of the urban area, surrounded by mountains on all sides. With a concealed geographical location and strong revolutionary support among the local people, this was the birthplace of the first CPC Pujiang County Committee. During the 1930s and 1940s, Shanlongwangdian Village once became a hub of revolutionary activity in Pujiang.

In 1939, China faced external threats from Japanese imperialist aggression and internal oppression under the Kuomintang. Communists rose to the occasion to save the nation. Many passionate revolutionaries risked their lives and underwent the trials of revolution. In September 1939, Comrade Jiang Zhong, dispatched by the Jinhua-Quzhou Special Committee, moved from Huangzhai to Shanlongwangdian Village in Yantou Town. Under the guise of teaching, he persisted in revolutionary struggle and carried out underground activities. Shanlongwangdian bore the weight of this significant red history during this special period. Under Jiang Zhong’s organization and leadership, the county’s Party organizations distributed and posted anti-Japanese propaganda slogans through underground Party members, and mobilized teachers and students to perform plays such as “The Trilogy of Resistance” and “March of the Big Sword,” awakening the public’s patriotic fervor. Under the leadership of the CPC Pujiang County Committee, the anti-Japanese salvation movement in Pujiang flourished. On the evening of the twelfth day of the first lunar month in 1949, the Kuomintang Criminal Police surrounded Shanlongwangdian, and Wang Maorong, a CPC member and head of the intelligence station, was unfortunately arrested. Throughout the long years of revolutionary struggle, communists represented by Jiang Zhong and Wang Maorong made indelible contributions to Pujiang’s anti-Japanese resistance and liberation efforts. On September 20, 2005, the Pujiang County Committee and County Government issued a document designating the “Former Site of the CPC Pujiang County Committee (1940)” in Shanlongwangdian Village, Yantou Town, as a county-level “Patriotic Education Base.” In August 2006, it was named a municipal-level “Patriotic Education Base” by Jinhua City, and in October of the same year, it was designated as a “County-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit.”

Wangdian Village: Located within the Shanlongwangdian Natural Village under Wangdian Administrative Village in Yantou Town, eastern Pujiang, this place is rich in talent and steeped in revolutionary history. It is the birthplace of the first CPC Pujiang County Committee (pictured above is the former site of the first CPC Pujiang County Committee). During the turbulent years of the Anti-Japanese War, communists stepped forward to save the nation. In the upstairs hall of Shanlongwangdian Village, a meeting of key Party members from across the county was held, leading to the establishment of the first CPC Pujiang County Committee.
