The former residence of Chen Zhaoying is located in Gutang Natural Village, Gutang Administrative Village, Huangzhai Town, Pujiang County. It dates back to the Republican era and is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

The former residence of Chen Zhaoying is among the fourth batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units in Pujiang County.

Chen Zhaoying (1888–1977), courtesy name Xiongfu, was a native of Gutang Village, Zhiping Township, Pujiang. In the 30th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1904), he was admitted to the Hangzhou Sifu Public School, and the following year entered the Army Noncommissioned Officers Academy. In the 32nd year, he joined the Restoration Society and attended the Artillery Officers' Specialized School. After graduation, he was assigned to the Zhejiang Mixed Brigade. During the Xinhai Revolution, he participated in the Zhe-Jiang Allied Forces’ campaign to reclaim Nanjing. In 1916, he initiated Zhejiang’s independence, opposing Yuan Shikai and Zhejiang Governor Zhu Rui, and traveled to Shanghai to meet Sun Yat-sen.
