Zhaoming Temple

Zhaoming Temple is located at the summit of Dapan Ridge and was originally built in the eighth year of the Xiantong era of the Tang Dynasty (867 AD). The current temple faces south with its back to the north and consists of three sections extending from front to back, covering a total area of approximately 1,800 square meters. It was reconstructed in 1994 with funds raised by nearby villagers and is currently undergoing further expansion. A plaque bearing the name “Zhaoming Temple,” inscribed by Qian Facheng, former director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, hangs above the temple gate, while the main hall displays a plaque inscribed with “Zhaoming Grand Hall,” written by Hongzong, abbot of Guoqing Temple on Tiantai Mountain. A five-meter-tall statue of Prince Zhaoming is enshrined in the main hall, and the ceiling and surrounding beams and walls feature exquisite paintings and wood carvings.
