Water Pavilion

The Water Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

Water 0- is located at No. 162, Senwu Village, Futian Subdistrict, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient building.

Its official hall name is “Yijian Hall,” but it is commonly known as “Water 0-.” Built during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty, local records from the “Senwu Longgang Wang Family Genealogy” indicate that the structure was erected by Wang Qishun or his son Wang Shihua during the Jiaqing period. After the liberation, five additional residential rooms were built on the north side of the main hall.

The building faces south and is backed by a slope. It was constructed over a pond, making it a uniquely distinctive waterside brick-and-wood structure. The bottom of the pond consists of bedrock, with a central ridge. The central axis of Water 0- aligns precisely over the dragon’s back. On the southern side, the building stands on two rows of bluestone pillars erected in the pond—14 stone piers per row. Each pier is topped with a horizontal slab, upon which the house is built. The structure comprises a main hall, side chambers on the left and right, and a front corridor, covering a total area of 198.3 square meters. The exterior features exquisite bluestone lattice windows, murals under the eaves, and finely carved wooden decorations inside. The stone gateposts are adorned with high-relief stone lions, making it a representative example for the study of waterside pavilion architecture in central Zhejiang. It holds significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.

In June 2006, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection site, and in April 2013, it was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. The official announcement document number is Yizheng Fa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.
