Hall of Reverence

The Hall of Reverence is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jinhua City.

The Hall of Reverence is located at No. 7, Shangshu Mansion, Dayuan Village, Jiangdong Subdistrict, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient building.

In March 1999, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit, with the official announcement number Yizheng [1999] No. 43, dated March 17, 1999.

Cultural value: It was the place where the talented woman Ni Renji composed poetry, painted, did embroidery, and resided.

Protected area: The existing structure of the Hall of Reverence itself, including the Hall of Reverence, the Ninging Pavilion, and the Hundred Herbs Garden.

Construction control zone: A straight line extending 27.5 meters westward from the west wall of the Hall of Reverence to the outer wall of Wu Houqi’s house; a straight line extending 25 meters southward from the south wall of the Ninging Pavilion to the south wall of Wu Houzheng; a straight line extending 25 meters eastward from the east wall to the west side of Wu Houdong; a straight line extending 30 meters northward from the north wall to the north wall of Wu Gaohui. The intersection of these four lines forms a quadrilateral construction control zone.

Dayuan Village: Introduction to Dayuan Village

Dayuan Village is located in the eastern part of Yiwu City, at the junction of the Yongjin Expressway and Provincial Highway 37. It consists of 23 villager groups, with 1,100 households and a total population of over 2,700, making it the largest village in Jiangdong Subdistrict, Yiwu City.

In the year 1064, the founding ancestor Wu Zao, serving as the principal clerk of Yiwu, chose to settle on the southern side of Wusun Ridge. As the eldest son, he was referred to as “Da” (meaning “great”), and “Yuan” means “first,” hence the name Dayuan. Later, when Wu Zao became the Minister of the Privy Council, he constructed the “Privy Council Minister” building in the year 1099.
