Huiji Hall

Huiji Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

Huiji Hall is located at No. 185, Shiqian Street Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the 44th year of the Daoguang reign in the Qing Dynasty (1844) and is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

The building faces east and sits west, with a gate tower on the south courtyard wall. There is a screen wall diagonally to the left front, built from plain, smooth-faced brick. The structure consists of three sections with three bays each, along with ten wing rooms on each side. The façade exhibits the traditional architectural style of the Wuzhou region. The main hall is an open-plan space with exposed beams and a clear roof structure. The front corridor is adorned with a ceiling, and the beam framework features exquisitely carved wood decorations. Two Qing Dynasty plaques are also preserved, making it an important physical artifact for studying the architectural style of the Daoguang period in the Qing Dynasty.

It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit in April 2013, under the announcement number Yizheng Fa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.

Shiqian Street Village: Shiqian Street Village in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, got its name because the original village site was situated along a street leading to Shuanglin and was located in front of a temple.

The village has two camphor trees that are 800 years old. Yiwu’s Fotang Town is a millennia-old ancient town with numerous Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, and Shiqian Street Village is a microcosm of this historic town’s character. Villagers say that the village was established after the temple, and the ruins of the 1,500-year-old Shuanglin Temple lie “asleep” in a reservoir located about 300 meters outside the village.
