Renhe Hall

Renhe Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

Renhe Hall is located at No. 176, Sianjie Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

Also known as the Old House, it was built by Ding Likui during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The building faces east and is situated to the west, with a compass bearing of 273°. It features a front hall and rear chamber, flanked symmetrically by wing rooms on both sides, forming a two-story, quadrangle-style courtyard complex covering a total area of 881.2 square meters.

The exterior facade of the building features white walls and black tiles, ornamental horse-head walls, and a bluestone gate with a stone-framed entrance. The lintel above the gate bears an inscribed bluestone plaque with the characters “紫气东来” (Purple Qi Coming from the East), giving the structure an elegant and classic traditional appearance. The main hall consists of a three-bay ground-floor space supported by round wooden pillars and winter melon-shaped beams, with melon-patterned column bases. A plaque inscribed with the name “Renhe Hall” hangs from the central beam of the main hall, signed by Wang Shihua of Huaxi. The front corridor of the hall building is adorned with a ceiling, while the wing rooms on either side each consist of five bays and one aisle, arranged symmetrically. A corridor runs east-west through the structure, with side doors at both ends. The main structural framework of the building remains intact, with high-quality materials used throughout and exquisitely carved wood decorations. It holds significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.

In April 2013, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit, with the official announcement document number being Yizheng Fa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.

Sianjie Village: Sianjie Village in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, got its name because its original site was located on the street leading to Shuanglin, positioned in front of a temple, hence the name “Sianjie” (Street in Front of the Temple).

The village has two camphor trees that are already 800 years old. Yiwu’s Fotang Town is a millennia-old ancient town, home to numerous Ming and Qing dynasty-era structures, and Sianjie Village is a microcosm of the town’s historic character. Villagers say that the village was established after the temple, and the site of the 1,500-year-old Shuanglin Temple “sleeps” in a reservoir about 300 meters outside the village.
