Tangxiayang Jishantang

Tangxiayang Jishantang is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

Tangxiayang Jishantang is located at No. 180–190, Tangxiayang Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

The building faces south and covers an area of 1,827.6 square meters. Its central axis consists of a front, middle, and rear section, flanked by wing rooms. On both sides, there are also additional wing courtyards, each comprising two interconnected three-courtyard complexes arranged in a “five rows with two inserts” layout, symmetrically distributed on the east and west. The main hall’s beam framework features a five-rafter lifted beam system with double-step beams in the front and rear, using exquisitely carved shrimp-dragon beams instead of smaller beams, giving it a distinctive character.

Jishantang features a well-organized layout, grand scale, and robust materials, with smooth lines and exquisite craftsmanship in its wood carvings. The entire complex centers around the main hall and adopts a corridor-courtyard layout. The main structure along the central axis is separated from the east and west wing courtyards by fire lanes, reflecting the living habits of large traditional families in central Zhejiang and possessing high historical, artistic, and scientific value.

It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit in February 2018, with the official announcement document number being Yizheng Fa [2018] No. 9, dated February 9, 2018.

Tangxiayang Village: Located in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, Tangxiayang Village has a permanent population of 451 households and 1,056 residents. The village has built a cultural activity center, a floodlit basketball court, and indoor cultural activity rooms including a library reading room, table tennis, and billiards facilities. Building upon its recognition as a municipal “dual-construction” demonstration village, it has further improved sports and cultural facilities, actively cultivated cultural and sports teams, and organized diverse and enriching community cultural and sports activities.
