Peide Hall

Peide Hall is a cultural relics protection unit of Jinhua City.

Peide Hall is located at No. 600, TIANXIN 4 Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1835) and is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

In August 2011, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit under the announcement number Yizhengfa [2011] No. 64, dated August 27, 2011.

Cultural value: The hall’s name plaque was inscribed by national hero Lin Zexu.

Protected area: The “Peide Hall” name plaque.

Construction control zone: The overall structure of the New Hall where the “Peide Hall” plaque is hung, covering a total area of 1,356 square meters.

Lin Zexu, styled Yuantu and also known as Shaomu or Shilin, with the late pseudonym Cuncun Laoren. He was from Gudong Street, Houguan, Fujian (now part of Gulou District, Fuzhou City). Born on July 26, 1785, during the 50th year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty. His father, Lin Binri, styled Mengyang and also known as Dugu, made a living as a teacher; his mother, Chen Zhi, did needlework and paper-cutting flowers to help support the family. At the age of 4, Lin Zexu began his early education under his father and gained a reputation for literary talent in his youth. In 1798, during the third year of the Jiaqing reign, he passed the xiucai examination and studied at the Aofeng Academy, where he began to focus on practical learning. TIANXIN 4 Village: TIANXIN 4 Village in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, is less than 2 kilometers away from Jiaonan. The village has built a cultural activity center, an illuminated basketball court, and indoor cultural spaces including a library reading room, table tennis, and billiards rooms.
