Tomb of Ding Likui

The Tomb of Ding Likui is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

The Tomb of Ding Likui is located on the mountainside of Xiangfeng Mountain (also known as Taigong Mountain) in Sianjie Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the 15th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1835) and is classified as an ancient tomb.

The tomb faces south with a bearing of 170 degrees. It consists of the tomb facade, mound, enclosing wall, offering table, and altar, covering a total area of approximately 163 square meters. The tomb facade is shaped like a concave character, measuring about 5.1 meters in length and 1.3 meters in height. It is composed of a tomb stele, railing panels, and eight ornamental pillars. The stele is designed in the style of a memorial archway, featuring a hip-and-gable roof with ridge decorations of a mythical fish (ao yu wen) and a gourd-shaped treasure vase at the center. The inscription on the stele reads: “The sacred tomb path of the honorable late father (and mother) Jie Bin Ji Yang Jun Tai Jiu Bai Er Shi Yi (and Madam Guo), granted posthumous titles for five generations under one roof during the Qing Dynasty, erected in the winter month of the 15th year of the Daoguang reign, by his sons Zhengxian and Zhenglu, among others.” The oval-shaped tomb mound has an earthen cover approximately 10 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 1.6 meters high, now overgrown with weeds and trees. About 2.7 meters in front of the stele is an offering table, flanked by three-tiered steps. In front of the tomb lies a semi-circular worship platform with a radius of about 8 meters, paved with cobblestones. According to the Ding Family Genealogy, Ding Likui (1755–1834), styled Qifang and also known as Zaiting, was a senior licentiate and was honored as a local Jie Bin. The Sparrow Gathering Bridge and the Tomb of Ding Likui are well-preserved with intact structures, holding significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.

It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in April 2013, with the announcement document number Yi Zheng Fa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.

Sianjie Village: Sianjie Village in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, got its name because the original village site was located on the street leading to Shuanglin, situated in front of the temple, hence the name “Sianjie” (Temple Front Street).

The village has two camphor trees that are 800 years old. Yiwu’s Fotang Town is a millennia-old ancient town with numerous Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, and Sianjie Village is a microcosm of the town’s traditional style. Villagers say that the village was established after the temple, and the ruins of the 1,500-year-old Shuanglin Temple lie “asleep” in a reservoir about 300 meters outside the village.
