Shushu Pond Ruins

The Shushu Pond Ruins are a cultural relic protection unit of Jinhua City.

The Shushu Pond Ruins are located in Houtang Village, Fotang Town, Yiwu City, dating back to the Song Dynasty, and are classified as an ancient site. Constructed in 1151 by Wang Huai, a successful candidate in the imperial examinations during the Southern Song Dynasty’s Shaoxing 21st year, the site has a history of over 800 years. With its long history and scientifically sound design, it served as an important ancient hydraulic hub project in Yiwu. The entire water storage and irrigation distribution system includes one pond, three weirs, and nine canals, forming a highly complete system that remains largely intact. It is an important and representative ancient hydraulic heritage site in Zhejiang Province, possessing significant historical and scientific value.

In April 2013, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit, with the announcement document number being Yizhengfa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.

Houtang Village: Located in Fotang Town, Yiwu City, Houtang Village has 266 permanent households and a population of 632. The village has built a cultural activity center, a floodlit basketball court, and indoor cultural activity rooms including a library reading room, table tennis, and billiards facilities. On the foundation of being recognized as a municipal “dual construction” model village, it has further improved sports and cultural facilities, actively nurtured cultural and sports teams, and organized diverse and rich mass cultural and sports activities.
