Shangxi Ligeng Hall

Shangxi Ligeng Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Jinhua City.

Shangxi Ligeng Hall is located at No. 130, Sikoujiang Village, Shangxi Town, Yiwu City. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is categorized as an ancient building.

The building faces west and covers a total area of 827.7 square meters. It consists of three sections (front, middle, and rear), each with two side rooms, two corridors, and two stories. The building features double eaves, ornate horse-head walls, and is laid out in a traditional courtyard (siheyuan) structure.

The entrance hall has three bays, with a stone-framed gate in the center. The lintel is decorated with carved brick hangings. The main hall is located on the lower floor, featuring exquisitely crafted beams and woodworking. The upper floor consists of a row of seven rooms: the central bay serves as the main ceremonial room, while the others function as formal living quarters. Side rooms flank both sides in symmetrical arrangement. The building’s highlight lies in its refined wood carvings — the entire outer lattice windows of the side rooms facing the courtyard are adorned with intricate relief carving techniques, showcasing exceptional richness and craftsmanship that are rare in Yiwu and of high artistic value.

It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in April 2013, under official notice No. Yizhengfa [2013] No. 29 dated April 24, 2013.
