Shanmentang Fourteen-Room Residence

The Shanmentang Fourteen-Room Residence is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Jinhua.

The Shanmentang Fourteen-Room Residence is located at No. 1, Shanmentang, Hedian Village, Yiting Town, Yiwu City. It was built in the Republican Era (1920) and is classified as an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

It was built in 1920 by He Jiqing. The structure faces west, oriented at 100 degrees, and consists of two courtyards, front and rear, with matching wing rooms on both sides, forming an inverted two-story quadrangle courtyard covering a total area of 340.4 square meters.

The front hall and main building both have five bays in width, using post-and-lintel construction with five columns and seven rafters. The central bay on the ground floor is open, while the side bays are partitioned with wooden panels. The wing rooms on both sides consist of two rooms each, with finely crafted latticed doors and windows along the front eaves. The courtyard is surrounded by corridors with eaves halfway up the walls. The south wing room has a main entrance in the form of a stone-framed gate, and the gable wall features a five-tier horse-head wall. The north wing room has a construction date inscribed on its large horizontal beam, with the characters “Gengshen Winter Month” carved in intaglio. The building is exquisitely decorated with carvings depicting figures and stories such as the Lion and the Embroidered Ball, Phoenix and Peony, the Immortal Lovers, Liu Hai Playing with Money, and the Heavenly Official Granting Blessings. It holds significant cultural and historical value.

It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in April 2013, with the official announcement number being Yizheng Fa [2013] No. 29, dated April 24, 2013.

Hedian Village in Yiting Town is located to the south of Yiwu City, approximately 13 kilometers from downtown Yiwu, situated along Wuzhou Avenue, with the Fodi Line highway passing through the village.
