Zhu's Residence in Zhudian

Zhu's Residence in Zhudian is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

The Zhujia Architectural Complex in Chian, Yiwu, located in Zhudian Village, Chian Town, is composed of the Jianxu Hall from the Ming Dynasty, the Liufang Hall from the Qing Dynasty, the Da Fu Mansion built during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty, and the additional wing added during the Republican period. The complex covers a total area of about 3,045 square meters, with a building area of 5,409 square meters.

The complex faces south. The Da Fu Mansion was the residence of Zhu Yixin, a Confucian scholar of the Qing Dynasty, and his brother Zhu Huaixin. It consists of the Da Fu Mansion gatehouse and two adjacent buildings in the front and back, each with eighteen rooms, known as Baozhen Hall and Yuejing Hall. During the Republican period, two additional three-courtyard structures, Shuangbaoxuan and Baoxuan Hall, were built on the west side, covering a total area of about 1,929 square meters. To the left of the Da Fu Mansion gatehouse is the Liufang Hall, a mid-Qing Dynasty structure made up of two courtyards, three-bay rooms, and surrounding wing rooms forming an eighteen-room courtyard, featuring exquisite carvings and covering an area of 570 square meters; to the right is the Jianxu Hall, a late Ming Dynasty structure consisting of three courtyards, two compounds, and one central hallway, covering an area of 681 square meters. The beams, carvings, and column bases all retain the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty.

The entire architectural complex spans approximately 300 years, from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the early Republican period. With its grand scale, it reflects the evolution of architecture across different periods and holds significant historical value for the study of Ming and Qing architectural development.

In 2009, the Da Fu Mansion underwent maintenance. The Jianxu Hall and Liufang Hall have also been preserved and maintained in recent years, and the entire complex is now well-preserved.
