Ancient Residential Complex of Huangshengtang

The Ancient Residential Complex of Huangshengtang is a protected cultural heritage site of Zhejiang Province.

The Ancient Residential Complex of Huangshengtang is located in Dachen Town, Yiwu City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Located in the center of Huangshengtang Village, it consists of ancient dwellings such as a wooden hall and the Lower Hall. The front of the Lower Hall features a finely crafted brick screen wall, with a layout divided into three sections, each with three bays, flanked by left and right wing rooms. The building covers an area of 1,311 square meters. The complex is characterized by its exquisitely detailed stone lattice windows on the façade and ornate wood carvings inside, reflecting the architectural style of the Qianlong period. The roof ridges are adorned with decorative patterns and feature finely carved brick ornaments. The entire residential complex sits against a hillside, faces an open area, and is surrounded by traditional houses whose original appearance has been well preserved, giving it significant historical, scientific, and artistic value. The Wooden Hall, also known as the Upper Hall, has a similar three-section, three-bay layout with left and right wing rooms, covering an area of 1,278 square meters. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in 2010.

On January 13, 2017, it was listed by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites.
