Jinhua Bullfighting Arena

Jinhua bullfighting involves "bulls fighting against bulls," which is different from the Spanish style of humans fighting bulls, and is hailed as "Eastern civilized bullfighting." The thrilling and spectacular scenes are truly breathtaking.

In the past, bullfights were typically held during the agricultural off-season, mostly in expansive paddy fields. When the firecrackers sounded, the two bulls would come close, and both owners would quickly pull their ropes—then the bulls would begin to clash, neither yielding. Each bull would employ a variety of tactics such as locking horns, hooking, ramming, butting, and head-butting, aiming to strike where the opponent was vulnerable, striving for victory through surprise attacks and using all their strength to overpower the other until it could no longer hold its ground and retreated. The audience also found great excitement in watching these thrilling and grandiose scenes.

The newly built bullfighting arena is located by the picturesque Lake Haitang in the Jiangnan Economic Development Zone of Jinhua City. It covers an area of 8,000 square meters, with basic construction investment reaching one million yuan. The arena features an indoor antique-style grandstand, outdoor stands, and a series of supporting service facilities. Outside the arena, there is a parking lot that can accommodate dozens of extra-long tourist buses. Since October 4, 1992, the "Jinhua Bullfighting" event has grandly commenced every year on Chongyang Festival, accompanied by bullfighting competitions with major prizes.
