Jiufengshan Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Jiufengshan Martyrs' Cemetery in Wucheng District is situated in the Jiufengshan · Moon Bay provincial scenic area in Tangxi Town. It was constructed with over 200,000 yuan raised by the former People's Government of Jinhua County to honor the many revolutionary martyrs from Tangxi. Construction started on August 1, 1997, covering an area of over 6,000 square meters, with a building area of 300 square meters and a burial area of 120 square meters. The cemetery was designed around the theme “August 1, 1997.” It features a two-story stone pavilion, two sets of seven-tier stone staircases with nine steps each, all built within the scenic Yangmei Orchard of Moon Bay in picturesque Jiufengshan. Facing south and nestled against the mountain, the structure stretches over 80 meters in length with a height difference of 28 meters. With its green hills, lush trees, and white stone structures, the site presents a solemn, pleasant, and majestic atmosphere.

The cemetery collectively houses the ashes of 23 revolutionary martyrs from Tangxi who sacrificed their lives in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, the Korean War, the Counterattack in Self-Defense Against Vietnam, as well as during socialist construction. Among them are Liu Zhanliang, a war hero and first-class merit recipient from the Counterattack in Self-Defense Against Vietnam; Zhang Zhangyuan, who was commended by the Central Military Commission in 1962 for heroically rescuing seven drowning children at the cost of his own life; and over ten martyrs who died on the battlefields of Korea during the Korean War (see martyr profiles). In 2015, through on-site investigation, it was found that next to the cemetery lies the solitary grave of steelworker martyr Zhu Rucheng. However, as of October 2015, no records were found for him in the Martyr Commendation (Veterans Welfare Institutions) Information System. Additionally, it was learned that beneath the yangmei tree in the middle of the martyrs’ gravesite lies an urn, but details regarding its relocation and background remain unknown.

Since its completion and opening to the public, the cemetery has maintained “seven key features”: it has a dedicated leadership team; a complete management system and part-time specialized staff from the scenic area; a tour guide; exhibits introducing the martyrs; photographic and historical materials along with textual displays; informational resources about the base; and a designated reception area for visitors. The base has received a cumulative investment of 3 million yuan and has welcomed 500,000 visitors. Since launching patriotic education activities in 2002, it has hosted 300,000 visitors. Jiufengshan Martyrs' Cemetery serves as a prominent patriotic education base in the Jinxī (Tangxi) region of Wucheng District.
