Jinhua Youth Palace is designated as a science education base.

Established in 1987, Jinhua Youth Palace is a purely non-profit, public-service institution under the Jinhua Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League. It is the city’s only comprehensive, multifunctional, and modern extracurricular education center that integrates moral education, training programs, activity venues, leisure, and entertainment, and it is also the largest youth extracurricular activity facility in central Zhejiang.

Jinhua Youth Palace has always prioritized optimizing the environment for young people, meeting their needs, and promoting their growth as the main theme of its cultural development. The current Jinhua Youth Palace covers an area of 22,500 square meters, with a total building area of 11,500 square meters and fixed assets valued at over 15 million yuan. The environment within the palace has garnered widespread praise from visitors. Despite being the prefecture-level youth palace with the shortest history and fastest development in our province, it has accomplished the remarkable feat of equipping such a large-scale youth extracurricular activity facility to meet modern educational standards in such a short time and at such a rapid pace.

Since 1997, with the care and support of the municipal government, the Communist Youth League Committee, and all sectors of society, Jinhua Youth Palace has imposed higher demands on itself and strived forward against challenges, carrying out four major infrastructure projects that have laid a solid material foundation for the development of extracurricular education.

First, the three-phase construction project was implemented. Without a single yuan of government funding, nearly 10 million yuan was raised through socialized operations. In 1998, the third-phase project commenced, resulting in the construction of a comprehensive building and a training building, adding nearly 9,000 square meters of new floor space. This significantly improved the hardware capacity to serve the needs of young people and alleviated the growing demand for extracurricular education in the city in recent years.

Second, investment in training and activity facilities was increased. Overcoming numerous difficulties, more than 2 million yuan was raised to purchase educational activity equipment, improve teaching environments, and meet the basic requirements for training and activities.

Third, emphasis was placed on the internal environmental development of the palace. The overall architectural design was carefully conceived, featuring spires, round arches, and a castle-like style, reflecting the cultural essence of a youth activity venue. With a focus on greening and beautification, the palace adopted a socialized management approach by collaborating with the city’s landscaping company to plant flowers, arrange potted plants, and completely renew the appearance of the facility. This created a garden-like environment for learning, entertainment, and leisure. Environmental decor was also highlighted—famous quotes, student works, and portraits of notable figures were displayed in classrooms, corridors, and other public areas to foster an educational atmosphere. Additionally, nearly 200,000 yuan was invested to upgrade parent rest areas, and eight outdoor resting spots were added, reflecting the humanistic care of the youth palace.

Fourth, the expansion project of off-site educational bases was implemented. Leaders of Jinhua Youth Palace believe that as the institution grows, it should step outside its walls, engage with society, and integrate social resources for mutual benefit, sharing its high-quality educational resources and advanced extracurricular education concepts with more young people. To this end, they have established teaching sites in suburban and community areas, collaborated with other extracurricular education institutions, and partnered with schools under the “One School, One Feature” program to extend their reach effectively. These efforts have strengthened their role as a leading hub for youth extracurricular education.
