Hongji Bridge Wharf

Hongji Bridge Wharf is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.

Hongji Bridge Wharf is located on the south bank of the Yiwu River in Chengdong Subdistrict, Wucheng District, Jinhua City. It provides waterway access to the Wu River, extending south to Quzhou and north to cities like Suzhou and Hangzhou, holding significant historical and scientific value.

Hongji Bridge Wharf was originally built during the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty and renovated in the 13th year of the Daoguang reign. It retains the historical appearance from the 13th year of Daoguang. The wharf is 3.45 meters high and features 19 steps (steps with auspicious designs), built in a spur jetty style with a hexagonal plane. It is 8.65 meters wide at the top, 15.2 meters wide in the middle, and 7.2 meters wide at the base. At both ends of the first step from the bottom, there are stone piers, with hollowed-out centers used for mooring boats. On the 17th step, there are stone mooring posts on both the east and west sides, with inscriptions on the front of the post heads reading “Constructed in the winter of the 13th year of Daoguang, the year of Guisi.” The stone pillars on the upper floating bridge wharf have inscriptions on the east and west sides that read: “Established on the first day of the first month of winter in the 13th year of Daoguang, the year of Guisi.” This refers to its construction in October of the lunar year 1833. In 2011, it was listed as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level protected heritage sites.
