Anji Bamboo Expo Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Anji Bamboo Expo Park was formerly known as the Anji Bamboo Species Garden. Located in Anji County, Zhejiang Province — China’s famous bamboo hometown — it is a classic and flagship destination of bamboo tourism. This park perfectly combines the China Bamboo Museum, which showcases bamboo culture and craftsmanship, with the Asia’s largest Anji Bamboo Species Garden. It is also a national "AAAA" level tourist attraction. The entire Bamboo Expo Park is a grand bamboo-themed botanical garden that integrates functions such as scientific research, production, ecology, and tourism. Known as the "back garden of the city," the park covers a total area of 600 acres and houses 304 varieties from 34 genera of bamboos from across China and around the world.

Visiting the Bamboo Expo Park allows you to see the world’s most unique and exotic bamboos and learn about the millennia-long history of bamboo processing and utilization. With gentle breezes swaying the bamboo and shadows dancing playfully, the 1,200-acre park is planted with over 389 species of bamboo. Strolling through it feels like entering an ocean of bamboo — some towering and reaching skyward, others low and creeping; some as slender as knitting needles, others with leaves as broad as fabric; some vibrant with color, others oddly twisted.

In autumn and winter, you can admire the forms of bamboo, the colors and shapes of their stems, and the shapes of their leaves. In spring and summer, observing bamboo shoots is even more delightful. Not to mention the dark green-husked Black Sprout Bamboo, the purple-red Golden Bamboo, the green Four-Season Bamboo, or the variegated Horn Bamboo — nor the spear-like Spear Bamboo, the sweet Sweet Bamboo, or the bitter Bitter Bamboo — just the nurturing Fostering Bamboo and the sweet-flavored Yellow Sweet Bamboo are worth admiring for hours.

Amidst the emerald bamboo groves, ingenious landscaping artistry is used to tell the long-standing legends and stories of bamboo. Thatched cottages built with mud walls vividly recount the story of Meng Zhong crying by the bamboo; uniquely shaped bamboo huts bring to life the legend of the spotted bamboo; the "Ink Bamboo Courtyard" exudes the fragrance of calligraphy and painting; the "Bamboo Peak Plank Walk" truly lets you experience the flying-through-bamboo-forest atmosphere from the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

The China Bamboo Museum is a condensation of 6,000 years of bamboo culture and is a first-class, world-leading specialized bamboo museum in China. Covering an area of 12,000 square meters, the museum is divided into eight exhibition halls, including the History Hall, Resource Cultivation Hall, Literature and Art Hall, Craft Collection Hall, and International Exhibition Hall. Exhibits include bamboo-woven versions of the "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" and "Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion," the world’s thickest and largest Giant Dragon Bamboo, and the solid Gu Li Bamboo. With its rich displays and detailed historical materials, visitors can learn about China’s abundant bamboo resources, long bamboo history, and splendid bamboo culture.

The Bamboo Expo Park also offers a variety of colorful activities and performances. These include bird shows, horse riding, car racing, camping, barbecuing, fishing, navigating bamboo mazes, breaking through plum blossom eight-trigram formations, listening to bamboo music, watching bamboo dance performances, boating on the lake, or sipping tea in the woods… Endless charm awaits.
