The Romantic Tourism Area of Tanxiangshan is located at the mysterious 30th parallel north, at the geometric center of the Yangtze River Delta, and is 180 kilometers away from Shanghai, Nanjing, and Ningbo. It features the world’s geological natural wonder—a river capture phenomenon. It serves as an inspiration bank for "Journey to the West," with sites such as Pagoda Mountain and Bottomless Cave. It also boasts the world’s largest reclining Guanyin Buddha mountain and is Zhejiang Province’s first national AAAA-level scenic area under application at the township level.

The Romantic Tourism Area of Tanxiangshan covers the entire Shanchuan Township in Anji County, characterized by vast mountains and rivers. Only two roads connect it to the outside world—otherwise, only birds can enter or exit. The scenic area boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters, with lush forests, continuous green bamboo, fragrant exotic flowers blooming all year round, rare birds and animals dwelling in dense woods, and winding mountain roads embracing the green peaks, always giving visitors a romantic sense of “seeming to reach a dead end only to find a new village beyond.”

The Romantic Tourism Area of Tanxiangshan has a forest coverage rate of 97% and low population density. It consists of six administrative villages: Shan Chuan Village (Beautiful Mountains and Rivers), Ma Jia Nong Village (Majestic Gong and Drum), Da Li Village (Rustic Countryside), Jiu Mu Village (High Mountain Fields), Gao Jia Tang Village (Heaven on Earth), and Chuan Cun Village (Sailing Through Bamboo Seas). It is hailed as a condensed essence version of China’s Beautiful Villages—Anji. In 2004, it was rated as China’s first environment-friendly township and was even praised by China’s environmental protection pioneer Mr. Qu Geping as the “Land of Human-Nature Harmony.”

Zhejiang Tanxiangshan Tourism Co., Ltd. has developed the Tanxiangshan Thousand-Acre Lavender Fields Scenic Area, the Bamboo Sea Thirty-Three Guanyin Scenic Area, and the Jingkongli Original Ecology Canyoning Grand Canyon. It actively integrates resort hotels, high-end clubs, Huizhou-style ancient architecture resorts, and star-rated farm stays within the scenic area.
