Huludao Lotus Ecological Park is situated in the eastern part of Yangcheng Lake West, Taiping Subdistrict, Xiangcheng District. Historically, Huludao was known as Lihetan. Surrounded by water on all sides and nestled by clouds and lakes, the island resembles a “gourd” lying peacefully on Yangcheng Lake when viewed from above—hence the name Huludao. The park spans 800 acres and is only 2 kilometers from the Xiangcheng interchange of the Suzhou–Jiaxing–Hangzhou Expressway and just 1 kilometer from the Yangcheng Lake West Service Area of the same expressway. With its prime location and convenient transportation, it is a picturesque and auspicious spot in the midst of Yangcheng Lake.

Taiping Town, with a long history, was recorded as one of the twenty-two townships of Wuxian County in the Southern Song-era supplementary text Wu Di Ji Hou Ji.
