Xiangcheng Granary

Xiangcheng Granary is a cultural heritage site protected by Suzhou Municipality.

Xiangcheng Granary is located at the southern warehouse of the grain depot on Guanqiaotou in Xiangcheng Town. In 1951, Lingying Temple was converted into a grain depot, known as the Yangcheng District Depot.

At that time, the Lingying Temple grain depot was called the “South Warehouse,” while the remodeled Miaozhi Nunnery depot was referred to as the “North Warehouse,” and the Yaoying... was called the “New Warehouse.” The total area of the grain depot is 8,293 square meters, including five drying fields, totaling 13,845 square meters, and 23 storage buildings, with a total storage capacity of up to 9.82 million kilograms.

Starting in 1955, it was incorporated into the Yangcheng District Grain Management Office (Depot). In August 1958, Xiangcheng established a Grain Management Office to oversee the management of the grain depot.

In the late 1970s, the grain depot built new brick round grain silos, each capable of storing over 100,000 kilograms, with three still in existence today.
