The Zhouzhuang Painters' Village cultural and creative industry project is located on the eastern side of the Zhouzhuang Ancient Town scenic area, nestled within the beautiful and scenic Fugui Garden, spanning over 500 acres. It includes functional spaces for artistic creation, inspiration, and exchange such as a sketching base, art studios, and a contemporary art gallery, providing space for over 600 artists to live, create, and interact. Based on its existing unique cultural industry resources and with an eye toward Zhouzhuang’s future sustainable development, the Zhouzhuang Town Party Committee and government officially launched the Zhouzhuang Painters' Village cultural and creative industry project in 2007. By repurposing idle commercial spaces through targeted renovations and enhancing basic infrastructure, the project has transformed the area into a new hub for inspiring creativity, attracting creative talent, and clustering creative industries, all enriched by the unique cultural ambiance of the ancient town. Zhouzhuang Painters' Village is positioned to be led by mainstream academic art, drawing in outstanding original painters to develop the village into a well-known, large-scale cluster of artists’ studios that integrates academic exchange, artistic creation, artwork display, and trade—both nationally and internationally. It aims to gradually become a painter’s village of world-class standards and a vibrant cultural landmark in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Zhouzhuang Town: Zhoushi Town is located in the northeastern part of Kunshan, bordering Taicang City and Changshu City. It was formed through the merger of the former Zhoushi, Xinzhen, and Luyang towns, and is designated as the central area of the northern section of Kunshan City by the Kunshan Municipal Party Committee and Government. The town covers a total area of 81.56 square kilometers, with a local resident population of 43,000 and a migrant population of 60,000.
