Jinxi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Kunshan City. Its ancient name was Jinxi. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was renamed Chenmu Village, and during the Qing Dynasty, it became Chenmu Town. In 1958, the Dianxi Commune was established; in 1962, it reverted to Chenmu Town; in 1965, it changed to Maoshe Commune; in 1981, it returned to Chenmu Town; and in 1992, it was renamed Jinxi Town. Located in the southwestern part of the city, it is 23 kilometers from the urban center. Covering an area of 82.1 square kilometers, it has a population of 48,000. Several highways pass through the town. It is a typical water town with navigable waterways.
