Jinxi Ding Residence

The Ding Residence in Jinxi is a cultural heritage site protected by Suzhou Municipality.

The Ding Residence is located on Dingjia Lane in Jinxi Town, facing east with its back to the west and overlooking the Jinxi Town River. The residence complex stretches over a hundred meters in length.

Originally built during the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, it is a typical eleven-courtyard deep-house compound in the Jiangnan region. During the Guangxu era, descendants of the Ding family renovated the first seven courtyards and expanded the brick-carved gate tower and the horse-riding building. Currently, five courtyards remain, including the sedan hall, main hall, and hall building.

Jinxi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Kunshan City. Its ancient name was Jinxi, which was changed to Chenmu Village during the Southern Song Dynasty and later to Chenmu Town in the Qing Dynasty. In 1958, the Dianxi Commune was established, renamed Chenmu Town in 1962, then Chenghe Commune in 1965, reverted to Chenmu Town in 1981, and finally renamed Jinxi Town in 1992. It is located in the southwestern part of the city, 23 kilometers from the urban center.
